The Do's and Don'ts of Maintaining Your Car Wrap

Car wraps are an amazing way to advertise your business, especially if you want to target local customers in a certain area. You will see an increase in brand recognition and also add some fun and unique ways to advertise. You have to make sure that you take care of and maintain your wrap so that it will be as effective as possible and last as long as possible. Today we will be going over how you should take care of your car wrap and some things you should not do.

Washing your car

When it comes to cleaning your car and making sure the wrap is cared for, you are going to want to hand wash it. To do this, you are going to want to rinse off as much dirt and grit as possible with some water. Then, with a non-abrasive detergent and a soft clean cloth, wash the wrap using a circular motion. Lastly, just rinse thoroughly with clean water. Wraps should be washed a minimum of once a week or whenever the car appears dirty. Films are more prone to dirt and debris, which can cause early degradation if not routinely cleaned.

If you can’t hand wash your car, then touch-less car washes can be used. You will have to avoid brushing and high-pressure car washes, as they may cause dulling or scratching. Like hand washing, make sure you take the time to wipe down the car with a microfiber cloth to help prevent water spots.

Storing your car

Just like paint, car wraps degrade after prolonged exposure to the sun and pollutants. Whenever you can, try to store the car in a garage or at least a shaded area during the day. At night, protect the car from rain or dew. This is because the rain and dew may contain acidic pollutants. When a garage is not available, consider using a cloth car cover at night. You want to care for your car wrap like you would any other paint finish. You can consider a wax or protective coating.

Business?

If you are doing a car wrap for your business, you are going to want to include your contact information in a nice, bold design. You will be driving this car around most of the time, and it's a great way to get your message across to people. You want a design that not only catches people's eyes but also represents your business. By having your contact information as well, it lets people see your design and business and lets them contact you immediately. Think of it as a moving billboard. You are going to want complimenting colors and attractive fonts to catch the eye of potential customers.
